Jacks Valley NV ride area
Jack's Valley is located about four miles outside of Carson City, Nevada.
Directions:
Jack's Valley is easily accessible from a number of locations. (Keep in mind this area is closed from November 15th to March 31 for the protection of the animals that live here.)
To access from Carson City (Ranger Station):
- Drive South on 395 (out of Carson City) for about two miles. You will
come to a light at the intersection of 395 and Jack's Valley Road.
- Turn Right on to Jack's Valley Road. Proceed West for another two miles. You can enter Jack's Valley on either the North or South side of Jack's Valley Road.
To access from Minden/Gardnerville:
- Drive North on 395 (heading toward Carson City). Jack's Valley Road is
approximately 10 miles from the Junction of Hwy 395 and Hwy 88. Coming from
the South the street sign reads NO. SUNRIDGE DRIVE instead of Jack's Valley
Road.
- Turn left on to Jack's Valley Road and head West for about two miles. You can enter Jack's Valley on either the North or South side of Jack's Valley Road.
To access from Genoa:
Follow Jack's Valley Road to the entrance of the OHV area.
History:
In 1966 about 700 of the 3100 acres in Jack's Valley was burnt in a fire. The next year it was re-seeded to provide a mixture of plants for foraging and ground cover. In 1969 and 1970 fences were built to permit grazing under a "rest-rotation" system designed to benefit the deer population while harvesting forage for cattle.
Opportunities:
During the months of April-October this area offers 11 miles of OHV roads ranging from easy to difficult.
