Peavine NV ride area
Peavine is located in North Reno, Nevada (North-West of UNR campus). Peavine Mountain encompasses 48,000 acres in Northwest Reno, just Northwest of the University of Nevada, Reno. The Forest Service maintains 18,000 of the 48,000 acres.
Directions:
Peavine, being a large mountain, consequently has a number of access points:
Kings row access:
From Downtown Reno or I-80:
- Drive north on Virginia Street, past UNR, to McCarran Blvd.
- Get in the left turn lane and turn left onto McCarran.
- Get in the right hand lane on McCarran. Peavine is the mountain to your
right. There are two locations to access the mountain off of McCarran.
- From Virginia Street drive west on McCarran for about two miles. You
will come to a light at McCarran and King's Row. View Crest Mall is on the
corner.
- Turn Right up King's Row.
- Follow King's Row into the housing development. Approximately two miles up McCarran start looking for the portal. It is between two homes. There is a sign on the light post out front indicating that it is the King's Row Access.
Keystone access:
From Downtown Reno or I-80:
- Drive north on Virginia Street, past UNR, to McCarran Blvd.
- Get in the left turn lane and turn left onto McCarran.
- Get in the right hand lane on McCarran. Peavine is the mountain to your
right. There are two locations to access the mountain off of McCarran.
- From Virginia Street drive west on McCarran for about one mile. To your
right you will see a street named Leadership.
- Turn right and follow the street to the end where the OHV staging area is located (if you pass Leadership you can turn on Victory which is about .1 mile up the road.
Raleigh Heights access:
From North or South 395:
- Exit at Golden Valley Road off Highway 395 (Exit 73). Follow it
approximately 1 mile to Virginia Street (Old 395). There is a stop sign at
the junction.
- Turn left onto Old 395.
- Follow Old 395 approximately 1.5 mile up to Wellington Way.
- Turn left on Wellington Way, following it to Gladstone (Wellington turns
into Gladstone).
- Follow Gladstone .6 mile to Burgess. (Raleigh Heights Park is at the corner of Gladstone and Burgess.)
Horizon Hills access:
From North or South 395:
- Exit at Golden Valley Road off Highway 395. Follow it to Virginia Street
(Old 395). There is a stop sign at the junction.
- Turn right, follow Old 395 approximately 1.5 miles to Seneca Dri
ve. There Horizon Hills sign on the right side of the road. It points to Seneca Drive.
- Turn left on Seneca Drive and proceed up the road to Kiowa Way.
- Turn left on Kiowa Way and follow it to the dirt road. Continue up the dirt road to enter the Forest.
Poeville road access:
From North or South 395:
- Exit Hwy 395 at Stead Blvd (Exit 76). Follow it approximately .5 mile to
Virginia Street (Old 395). There is a stop sign at the junction.
- Turn right, proceed approximately .5 mile to the wide gravel road on
your left before the water tower. There is not a sign marking the road.
- Proceed up Poeville Road .7 mile to enter the Forest.
