Pismo Beach Ride Review
Well this was my first trip to Pismo and from what I was told we picked a super busy weekend to go. I am not all that sure what all the groups were but it was packed.
There was a big sand drag contest going on and a large gathering of Nationals from another country. I must say it was busy. For the amount of people there though it was pretty well behaved and stayed somewhat clean. The restrooms though were another story. Too many people for the amount of restrooms there were. They were pretty bad.
On to the riding. Well pismo is somewhat limited in its riding area and with the amount of people there the sand was very, very, and I mean very bumpy. Not like other areas where you can at least get to a little smooth sand. Riding the perimiter was fun, that took you all the way around the riding area and took quite a while, so it was fun.
If you like sand drags, Pismo has a nice flat (somewhat) drag area that we did a few times it was fun too.
The night life while we were there was another story. We went out to drag hill one night and it was like party central. Campfires everywhere and tons of people. Everything imaginable was racing up the hill and once again it stayed under control. With the amount of people out there at night That suprised me. Definitely don't take small kids out at night.....not the right atmosphere for them. I just sat back and took it all in.
Pismo had easy access and was ok for me. A little far for what it is for me though. Sand Mountain is closer and I liked it better. I would go back though.
All in all a fun weekend and a great time for all. Just watch for rangers, they really were checking it out once the crowd thinned.
